Our Broken Silence

There was deep brokenness in my silence.
I knew that to begin healing, I had to start speaking and set healthy boundaries with those who were contributing to my pain. When I first considered forming a support group, it was because trauma often feels like a lonely road. It took time to learn who in my life I could truly open up to—those who could hold space for the heavy things I was going through.
At times, sharing too much led to lost friendships, which only deepened my sense of isolation. Through my healing journey, I came to understand that not everyone is equipped to support us in the ways we need. But if we lean on God, He will provide the right people.
So why start a conference?
Because we are stronger together. We need spaces where we can speak honestly about how we feel with those who understand—rather than pretending we’re okay around those who don’t. We also need to learn how to support one another in the ways God has called us to. I’ve realized I may never feel “ready” to lead, and I may never feel fully “okay.” But neither did many of the people God called to lead in the Bible.
So now, I’m stepping into what God has called me to do—bringing together incredible women to not only share their journeys but also offer real tips and strategies to help us find our way forward.
Our Fundraising Goal!
A few years ago, our founder, Christe Porter, visited the Together Freedom site. In that moment, she knew God had equipped her, through both life experience and her career, to design a campus for these beautiful young women who have already endured so much tragedy at a young age.
Together Freedom provides long-term care and support for American girls rescued from child sex slavery.
While most people are aware that sex trafficking is a problem in the US, they are not aware that approximately 20,000 – 30,000 American children are recruited or forced into sex trafficking every year. What is even more alarming is the average age of these victims is 13 years old.
Christe has committed to designing the campus pro bono through her Architecture & Interior Design firm, ONE NINE Architecture, and is now working to raise funds for the build.
